Julius Bonnet

February 11, 1921 — April 22, 2015

Julius Bonnet, 94, of Belle Fourche, SD, and formerly of Leola, SD, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Belle Fourche Senior Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Leola, SD, with Pastor Nathan Henschen officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will follow at Green Mound Cemetery in Leola.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at the mortuary in Aberdeen, and one hour before the service at church, Tuesday.

Julius was born February 11, 1921, in McPherson County to Jacob P. and Amila (Bonnet) Bonnet.

Julius entered the US Army in September of 1942. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and was honorably discharged on September 8, 1945.

On July 2, 1948, Julius married Alice Liedle. The couple lived on a farm east of Leola before moving to the John Hohmann farm in 1950. They remained there until 1987, when they moved into Leola. In 2007, Julius and Alice moved to Newell, SD, to be near their only remaining son, Terry, and his family. In February 2015, Julius moved to the Belle Fourche Senior Care Center and resided there until he passed.

He is survived by his one son, Terry Bonnet and his wife Teresa, of Newell, SD: grandchildren: Nathan Burns and his wife Alicia, of Omaha, NE, Adam Burns and his wife Jen, of Russell, MN, Tana Lindskov and her husband Aaron Lindskov, of Isabel, SD, and Tyrel Bonnet of Newell, SD; great-grandchildren: Madie and Tyson Burns, belonging to grandson Adam, and Gabe and Kia Burns belonging to grandson, Nathan; four sisters: Delores Jung of Mina, SD, Betty (Joe) Huetele of Westport, SD, Virginia (Ken) Dewalt of WI, and Vera (Harley) Ehresman of CA; three brothers: Ervin (Shirley) Bonnet of WY, Marvin (Joan) Bonnet of Leola, SD and Herbert (Cassie) Bonnet of AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two brothers, his wife, two sons, and one daughter.
