Judith "Judi" Ann Schmidt, 62, of Aberdeen, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, as a result of end stage MS.
Judi's wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen, is handling the arrangements. Friends may sign her online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.
Judith "Judi" Ann Schmidt was born February 27, 1951, to Mary Flannery and was adopted by Arnie and Beryl Kelsey.
She was united in marriage to Mike Schmidt on December 10, 1999. Judi was employed at JC Penney until she was disabled with MS. Her love of horses drove her to country living most of her adult life.
In 2009, Judi was reunited with her birth mother. It was then that she learned also of having a brother and half-sister. The reuniting, short as it was, made a profound impact on both families.
Judi is survived by her husband, Mike Schmidt; daughter, Kerry Dieter-Reinke; son, Neal Dieter; step-children: Jill (Max) Snodgrass, Melisa Norby, and Jennifer (Bob) Bjorgaard; fourteen grandchildren; mother, Mary Flannery; brother, Steve (Nancy) Johnson; and half-sister, Jill (Tom) Johnson-Thelen.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Arnie and Beryl Kelsey; adopted brother, Ron Kelsey; and her first husband, Myron Dieter.
