Joseph "Joe" J. Fischer

Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph "Joe" J. Fischer, 79, Aberdeen, will be 10:30am Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Ave NE with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser as the Celebrant.

Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Mausoleum.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Ave NW is in charge of arrangements.

A Liturgical Wake service and Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday, at the church.

Joe passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor Retirement Center, Aberdeen, SD.

Joseph J. was born November 17, 1935 to Peter and Marie (Seitz) Fischer in Ipswich, SD. At a young age the family moved to Aberdeen where Joe attended St. Mary's Parochial School.

He served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960 aboard the USS Dixie. After his honorable discharge he returned to Aberdeen where he worked at Taylor Hatchery.

Joe and Pauline Fuehrer were united in marriage June 6, 1961 in Aberdeen. He was employed with Sweetheart Bakery as a route salesman from 1963 until he retired in 1995. Joe then worked part time at Gas-N-Goodies from 1996 to 2007.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, woodworking and was an avid bowler.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, Delarita, two brothers, Balzer and Michael.

Grateful to have shared in Joe's life is his wife of 53 years, Pauline of Aberdeen, his daughters, DeAnna (Gary) Evelo of Anaheim Hills, CA, and Brenda (Steve) Mitzel of Aberdeen, and his son, Joe (Camille) Fischer of Aberdeen, his fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, his brother Frank (Ramona) Fischer of Johnstown, CO, three sister, Marg (Jerry) Sanders of Menasha, WI, Barb (Toby) Roth of Great Falls, VA, and Angie (Bill) Riebe of Courtside, AZ.
