Mass of Christian burial for Dr. John C. Vidoloff, 73, of Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen. Reverend Melvin Kuhn will officiate. Burial, with military rites conducted by the Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post #24 of Aberdeen, will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at the mortuary, with a Liturgical Wake Service being held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at the church on Saturday.
Dr. Vidoloff passed away at home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.
John C. Vidoloff was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Ruth (Gilmore) and Victor Vidoloff on January 17, 1941. He spent his youth and attended school in Cicero, Illinois. He attended Quigley Preparatory School for the Mundelein Seminary before earning his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy degree from Loyola University of Chicago. He remained in Chicago to attend medical school at the Stritch School of Medicine of Loyola University where he earned his medical degree.
Dr. Vidoloff served in Vietnam July 1967- July 1968 as a doctor for the United States Navy assigned to the Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged with rank Lieutenant Commander. He returned to Chicago and was accepted into the residency program at Northwestern University Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
When he completed his residency, he entered private practice in Rockford, Illinois. He then was the director of the Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Missouri. In 1990, Dr. Vidoloff practiced physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry) at St. Luke's hospital in Aberdeen, South Dakota, until 2013.
He served as the Medical Director of the Rehabilitation Unit for over twenty years. He served his patients with a kind and generous heart and was dedicated to helping people return to productive lives. He was held various offices including President of the medical staff at St. Luke's Hospital, Councilor for the South Dakota State Medical Association, Past President of and current Secretary Treasurer of the Aberdeen Medical Society, and member of the Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
John married Mary Michiels on May 2, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois. They were blessed with four children.
John enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing cards. He and Mary traveled all over the country visiting his grandchildren. He coached his children's sport teams, participated in Boy Scouts with both of his sons, and made sure that all four of his children took a fishing trip to catch walleye on the Missouri River. He was also dedicated to helping and supporting his friends at The Yellow House.
Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Mary; and his four children: Ann M. Vidoloff of Sioux Falls, Michael J. Vidoloff, of Savannah, Georgia, Robert D. (Shawnna) Vidoloff, of Springfield, VA, and Kathleen G. Vidoloff of Portland, OR; his two grandchildren, Clare and Henry; and his sisters, Mary (Bob) Smith, of Berwyn, Illinois, and Margaret (Dan Golden) Vidoloff of Lyons, Illinois.
John is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Vidoloff.
