Joannie Ann Locke

Joannie Locke, 43, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Graveside Committal Service is 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Riverside Cemetery, Aberdeen with Pastor Drew Becker officiating. Visitation is 4-6 p.m., Monday, January 24, 2022, at the mortuary.

Joannie Ann Holy Bear was born July 19, 1978, in Bismarck, ND to Azalea White Horse (Baker) and Charles Holy Bear.

During her youth, Joannie lived with her grandmother and attended school in Fort Yates, ND where she graduated high school. After high school, she worked at the Prairie Knights Casino in Fort Yates. Later on, she moved to Aberdeen and married Ken Dwayne Locke on December 8, 2004. From this union became one son, Dillon. Joannie worked at Subway in Aberdeen for many years.

Joannie enjoyed going to powwows with her grandmother and was a very talented Indian dancer. She placed in many contests. Joannie was a social butterfly and was always outgoing. She made many lifelong friends.

Grateful for having shared Joannie’s life are her husband, Ken; her son, Dillon; her sister, Stacey Holy Bear; and her brother, Allan Holy Bear.

Joannie was preceded in death by her parents.
