Jo Anne “Joan” Palmer, 67, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen, following a stoic battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen with Father Michael Griffin as celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign her online guestbook and also view her service via the live stream service link at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at the church on Wednesday.

Jo Anne Palmer was born March 3, 1951 to Joe Carl and Monica Magdalena (Keller) Palmer in Aberdeen.  She attended Aberdeen Parochial Schools and graduated from Aberdeen Roncalli High School with the Class of 1969.  Following graduation, Joan worked at the Holiday Motel and Super 8 Hotel for many years.  Upon retiring, Joan became the caregiver for her parents.

Joan was a very humble, caring, person.  She was always putting the needs of others before herself.  Joan was the best aunt to her two nephews, Drew and Bryan, and her role as great-aunt to Alaire, Stella, and Jackson brought her much joy.

In her spare time, Joan enjoyed doing word-find puzzles and watching all Minnesota sports.  She especially loved gathering with family and friends.

Joan’s positive attitude, strength, and hope were admired by all who knew her.  We will miss you Joan, and we love you very much!

Blessed to have shared in Joan’s life are her sister-in-law, Deb Palmer of Pierre, SD; two nephews:  Drew (Anna) Palmer and Bryan (Rachel) Palmer; two great-nieces: Alaire James Palmer and Stella Magdalena Palmer; and one great-nephew, Jackson Liam Palmer.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Monica; and her brother, Jim Palmer.
