Jerome Mardian was born on September 18, 1944, to W.P. and Eva (Kraft) Mardian in Roscoe, SD. Jerry was raised and attended school in Roscoe. After his schooling, Jerry married Judy Stafford on June 1, 1963. To this union three children were born; Michael, Laura, and Bryan. Jerry worked for his father in the scrap metal business, which he later went on to buy. Jerry worked hard in his business and took pride in taking care of his family.
Jerry enjoyed gardening, yard work, hunting (pheasant hunting was his favorite), and enjoyed grilling, and even ventured on his own to make his own barbeque sauce. He loved to have backyard parties and for people to try his barbeque sauce. He enjoyed every last minute of these gatherings at Mina lake. As a more serious hobby, Jerry enjoyed buying and selling oil field pipes to farmers and ranchers as well as buying furs in the winter. Jerry and Judy also had several wonderful winters traveling south in their motorhome. They were able to enjoy the warm weather, and Jerry was able to do business from his computer wherever they traveled. Jerry also enjoyed singing Karaoke later in his life.
Grateful for having shared Jerry’s life are his wife of nearly 60 years, Judy of Aberdeen; one daughter Laura Holder of Aberdeen; two sons: Michael (Trina) Mardian of Mobridge, SD, and Bryan (Chris) Mardian of Piedmont, SD; three brothers: Paul (Arlene)Mardian, Clarence (Cindy) Mardian, Ken Mardian; four sisters: Betty (Merel) Kost, Angie Brandner, Ramona Hague, Delores Backman; five grandchildren: Kayla Holder, Jeremy (Kelli) Holder, Holly Mardian, Justice (Pat) Hettich, and Jordyn Keller; 3 Great-grandchildren Grayson, Skylar, and Hayden; and many nieces and nephews.
