Jeanne M. Gibbs

Jeanne M. Gibbs, 93, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at her home.

A Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Matt Spoden officiating.

Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the service.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, at Schriver's Memorial Chapel, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.

Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church.

Jeanne M. Nygaard was born on March 19, 1931, in Marshall, Minnesota, to Burnett and Hazel (Rolland) Nygaard. She attended school in Watertown, South Dakota, graduating with the class of 1949. She then attended St. Olaf College and the University of South Dakota.

Jeanne married Donovan Bert Gibbs at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown on September 2, 1951. They moved to Aberdeen, SD, in 1965.

Jeanne was a member of the PEO, Questers Club, Moccasin Creek Country Club, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. At the church, she was a lay reader, communion server, church council member, and teacher, and she participated in the friends’ bible study.

Grateful for having shared Jeanns’s life are her children: Marsha Jeanne (Joseph) White and Brenda Lee (Donald) Duncan; four grandchildren: Joshua White, Tara Newbaker, Kevin Duncan and Reese Duncan; and four great-grandchildren: Barrett Newbaker, Holden Newbaker, Asher Christensen, and Jaxtyn Clasby.

Preceding Jeanne in death were her parents, Burnett and Hazel; husband, Donovan Gibbs; and daughter, Deonne Gibbs.
