Jeanette Yost, 85, of Leola, SD, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024, at Avera St. Luke’s Aberdeen, SD.
A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at St. James Lutheran Church in Leola, SD.
Burial will be at Greenmound Cemetery, Leola, SD, following the service.
A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at the American Legion, Leola, SD.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Schriver's Memorial Chapel with a 7 pm Prayer Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Jeanette Haux was born on June 22, 1939, at home in South Dakota to Gottlieb and Ida (Heupel) Haux. She attended country school through the eighth grade, after which she worked numerous jobs locally.
On August 5, 1956, Jeanette married Darrel Yost. They made their living farming around Leola until they moved into town in 1977. During their time in Leola, Jeanette worked for 3M until the time of her retirement. They resided there until they moved to Aberdeen in 2022, where she lived until the time of her death.
Jeanette was a lifetime member of the Legion Auxiliary, the Circle L Cowbells, the Red Hatters, and the North Central Heritage Museum, where she hosted the Threshing Bee for 23 years with her husband, Darrel. She served as the treasurer of the Leola Senior Citizens and participated in the Leola Area Theater, where she acted in several plays.
Jeanette enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards, crocheting, embroidering, reading, fishing, watching the birds from her window, and telling jokes. Her most treasured moments were spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Grateful for sharing her life are her daughter-in-law, Karen Yost of Leola; daughter, Susan Parrish of Sarasota, FL; son, Dan (Tracey Hutchins) Yost of Leola; daughter, Charlene (Jimmy) Zilisch of Neenah, WI; daughter, Jane (Jim) Severson of Leola; daughter, Victoria Neiding of Brandon, FL; son, Don Yost of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Diane (Jay Kamletz) Waltman of Leola; son, Doug (Kami) Yost of Ipswich, SD; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters: Norma Rohrbach of Yakima, WA, Nancy Belden of Deer Park, WA, Linda (Dennis) Fogel of Aberdeen, and Gladys (Bill) McOwen of Phoenix, AZ; brother Robert (Glennis) Haux of Laurinberg, NC; sisters-in-law: Marie Haux of Mina, SD and Thelma Schulze of Bakersfield, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Gottlieb and Ida Haux; husband of 67 years, Darrel Yost; son, David Yost; daughter, Charlotte Yost Mehlhoff; granddaughter, Naomi Rath; sons-in-law, Pat Parrish, John Rath, and Mike Waltman; sisters: Virginia Hunt, Violet Maier, Caroline Kronberg, brothers: Harold Haux, Eldon Haux, Jim Haux, and Eugene Haux; and several nieces and nephews.
