Jean Darlene Siegle, 84, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.
Her funeral will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at the mortuary and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Jean Darlene Hinderks was born on August 3, 1929, in Houghton, South Dakota, to Frank and Mamie (Bartholemew) Hinderks. She grew up in Columbia and graduated from Columbia High School. Jean attended Northern Normal School and taught in a rural school for a year. She then worked at the Bank of Columbia until she married Herschel Kemnitz and moved to Aberdeen.
After she raised her four children, Jean attended Northern State College and graduated with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. She married Ray Siegle on May 24, 1977, and they made their home in Aberdeen.
Jean worked in Early Childhood program for two years at the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She then worked as the Day Care Coordinator at Bethesda Home before she retired to spend her time crocheting, knitting and playing bridge. She was a member of her bridge club for 35 years. Jean loved to read good books and share them with her family.
Jean is lovingly survived by her husband, Ray of Aberdeen; sons: Richard (Nina) Kemnitz of Fairbanks, Alaska, and David (Shirley) Kemnitz of Newnan, Georgia; daughters: Peggy (Bruce) Madison of Roseburg, Oregon and Julie (Steve) Niewald of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandchildren: Brian (Katie) Psiropoulos of Eugene, Oregon, Megan (Ian) Myers of Roseburg, Oregon, Jeremiah Psiropoulos of San Clemente Island, California, Nicole (Gabe) Chavez of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Nathan Kemnitz of Newnan, Georgia, Tyler (Dani) Johnson of Fridley, Minnesota, Keeley (Steven) Krump of Fridley, Minnesota, and Ian Niewald of Minneapolis; eight great-children: Tory, Zach, Jacob, Caleb, Jack, Lucy, Gracelyn, and Gretchen; and sister, Fran (Boyd) Johnson of Sturgis, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mamie Hinderks; brother, Bob Hinderks; and foster brother and dear friend, Duane Kindschi.
