Jean Darlene Beaman was born on December 29, 1932 to Floyd and Florence (Murray) Beaman in Aberdeen, SD.  She grew up in Bath, SD and graduated from Bath High School

Jean met the love of her life, Michael Reis, at the roller-skating rink.  They were married on February 23, 1952 and enjoyed 51 years together until “Mike” passed away in 2003.  A few years later, she left her home of over 50 years and moved into a condo.  Both places were on Melgaard Road in Aberdeen, which she lived on for 65 years.

Jean had a long employment history, including 15 years at Carey Graeber Noble Insurance Co.  She owned her own ceramic shop (Ceramic Haven) for 25 years.  She was a National Certified judge and teacher.  Jean’s hospice nurse (Lisa) was the daughter/granddaughter of two of her students. Small World!! Jean loved sharing stories with her. One highlight of her ceramic life was a trip to England for a seminar on the paints she was a distributor for.  Needless to say, her family has a lifetime supply of ceramics.  When she slowed down and closed her ceramic shop, she worked at Beadle’s Nursery and Kessler’s Floral Shop.

When Jean truly retired, she loved playing cards.  Jean belonged to several bridge clubs and if there were ever four pinochle players in a room, there was a game going on.

Jean was an excellent cook and passed that onto all of her kids.  She taught them all many life skills and instilled a strong work ethic in them.  She enjoyed crafting, bowling, camping, puzzles (especially Sudoku), ice cream, sweets, Minnesota Twins, and the Game Show Network.

Her family was her life.  Jean was especially proud of the fact that they all got along, even as adults!!

Jean will be greatly missed by her children: Lynn (Jim) Kreber, Patsy McClure, Sheila Rombs, and Gary (Lori) Reis; grandchildren: Andrea (Darren) Medhaug, Hilary Palmer, Michael Palmer, Melissa McClure, Angela (Anthony) Bornino, Christine (Chris) Patrick, James McClure, Jennifer (Donnie) Hart, Jason (Tera Richter) Rombs, Alisha Rombs, Amber (Michael) Biegler, and Kelsey (Anthony) Scarborough; 17 great-grandchildren with two more on the way in 2021; siblings: Nancy (Charles) Boynton, Mary Lou Reed, Janice Snyder, and Sonnie (Diane) Beaman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Chuck Rombs; brother-in-law, Bernell Reed; and great grandson, Cameron McClure.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Bethesda for the excellent care that they took of Jean on her final journey.
