Janis Lee Munsen, 71, passed away surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, October 25, 2014, in Aberdeen.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Fr. J. Joseph Holzhauser officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Aberdeen.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at the mortuary, with a Liturgical Wake Service and Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Janis Lee Snover was born July 11, 1943, to Paul and Dorothy (Gubin) Snover on the family farm near Stratford, SD. Janis and her family then moved to Aberdeen, where she attended Aberdeen schools. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1961.
Janis was united in marriage to Don Munsen, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen on November 3, 1962. The couple made their home in Aberdeen, where Janis was employed with The Brown County Cooperative, Midcontinent Cable and Presentation College. Janis found great satisfaction in her most recent career, working at the Yelduz Shrine coordinating services for transporting children in need to The Shriners Hospitals for Children in Minneapolis, MN.
Janis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and her faith was very important to her. Above all, she loved and cherished her family and grandchildren. Her greatest joys in life were taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Blessed to have shared her life is her husband of almost 52 years, Don Munsen of Aberdeen; one daughter, Kristie (Tim) Steinwandt of Aberdeen; one son, Brandt Munsen of Aberdeen; Amy Munsen of Aberdeen; four grandchildren: Joshua and Katelyn Steinwandt and Brooklyn and Brady Munsen; and two brothers, Jim (Marcia) Snover of Bath, SD and Richard "Dick" (Margaret) Snover of Watertown, SD.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one niece and one nephew.
Memorials are preferred by the family.
