A Celebration of Life Service for James M. Kramer, 66, of Aberdeen, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen with Father Shane D. Stevens, presiding.
Jim's wishes were to be cremated and his family requests those attending the service to dress casually.
A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow the service at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.
Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Saturday at the mortuary. Friends may sign his online guestbook at schriversmemorial.com.
Jim passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at his residence in Aberdeen.
James Michael Kramer was born on November 21, 1947, to Frank and June (Cleveland) Kramer in Aberdeen, SD. He grew up in Aberdeen, attending Howard-Hedger Elementary, Monroe Junior High, and Aberdeen Central High School before graduating with the Class of 1965. Jim then furthered his education at Northern State College in Aberdeen and received his degree in 1970.
On August 16, 1969, Jim married Jean Swisher in Groton, SD. The couple celebrated 45 years together and was blessed with two children, Trent and Heather.
Jim worked at and/or owned several businesses in Aberdeen over the years including: National Tea Store, Kramer's Red Owl, Super 8, Aberdeen American News, Loel Lust, E Z Stop, Chit Chat Restaurant, Jackpot Casino, Harr Motors and Centennial Homes. He enjoyed meeting new people and designing and developing new businesses. Jim always appreciated the loyalty of his employees.
Grateful for having shared his life are his loving wife, Jean, children, Trent Kramer and Heather (Ryan) Gab, granddaughter, Zoey Gab, and honorary grandson, Jordan Kolb, all of Aberdeen; his sister, Sandy Walker of Sioux Falls, SD; his brother, Randy Kramer of Aberdeen; brother-in-law, Jerry Ochs (Kathy Andersen) of Aberdeen; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents, and one sister, Rochelle Ochs, preceded Jim in death.
