James "Jim" Seiler, 60, of Aberdeen, SD, formerly of Herreid, SD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Aberdeen Health and Rehab Facility.
Jim's wishes were to be cremated and no formal services will be held at this time. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Saint Michaels Catholic Cemetery in Herreid, SD.
Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is honored to serve the Seiler family. Friends and family may sign the online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.
Jim was born on October 18, 1966, in Herreid, SD, to Mike and Caroline (Weigel) Seiler, and grew up on the family farm northwest of Herreid. At an early age, Jim developed an interest in engines and loved riding and repairing his first small motorcycle. In fact, he literally became obsessed with riding his motorcycle!
After graduating high school, Jim attended Lake Area Vocational Technical Institute in Watertown, SD, where he studied automotive mechanics. Jim owned and operated Huron Auto Clinic, LLC. He sincerely valued his customers, was very dedicated to his profession, and believed strongly in doing things the right way. Jim worked long and hard in his repair shop. Away from the shop, his youthful passion for motorcycles continued, and he became an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider.
Unfortunately, this passion for riding ended tragically in 2010 when Jim and his wife, Kim, were involved in a serious motorcycle accident that left Jim with a severe brain trauma injury. Jim never recovered from his injuries and spent the past 11 years at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.
Jim is survived by Kim Seiler and her son, Tyler, of Huron, SD; brother, Dean (Judy) Seiler of Kansas City, MO; sister, Linda (Dean) Wittmeier of Aberdeen, SD; sister, Jean (Brad) Blow of Pierre, SD; four nieces; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
