Jacqueline Joy Pitz, 79, of Aberdeen, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 14, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father Michael Griffin as Celebrant.

Burial will take place at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Aberdeen.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 4-5 p.m., Sunday, at the mortuary, followed by a liturgical wake service at 5:00 p.m.

Jacqueline Joy Klinger was born May 26, 1936, in Aberdeen, SD, to Donald Klinger and Rella (Hirdler) Klinger Lee. She attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1954.

Jacqueline was united in marriage to Perry Edward Pitz on June 19, 1954, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen. The couple made their home on the farm near Aberdeen. Jacqueline and Perry raised three children and shared over 59 years of marriage before Perry passed away on October 21, 2013. Jacqueline made the farm her home until the time of her death.

Jacqueline enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was an excellent cook and will long be remembered for the wonderful lunches she made every day for the farm hands. Jacqueline also loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed attending all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities.

Blessed to have shared in Jacqueline's life are her children: Robert (Brenda) Pitz of Mina, SD, and Rella (Louie) Botha and Rosanne (Joe) Malsom, both of Aberdeen; six grandchildren: Nathan (Melissa) Pitz, Briana Pitz, Corrie Sprinkel, Ryan (Amy) Erickson, Luke Malsom and Sarah Malsom; two step-grandchildren, Ryan Malsom and Mathew Malsom; seven great-grandchildren: Isaac and Molly Pitz, Colin and Austin Sprinkel, Hunter and Mikaela Erickson, Payton Malsom and another great-grandchild due to arrive this summer; one brother, Alan Kinger of Davis, CA; one step-sister, Bebe Gauchas of Brownsville, TX; and nieces and nephews.

Jacqueline is preceded in death by her husband, Perry; her parents; one great-granddaughter, Ashtyn Joy Sprinkel; and one step-brother, Kenneth Lee.
