Irvin C. Geffre was born July 11, 1923, to Peter R. and Josephine (Lapka) Geffre on the family farm near Leola, South Dakota.

Irvin and Mary T. Maiers were united in marriage on July 18, 1946, in Leola, SD. They farmed in the Leola area until 1978, when they moved to Aberdeen, where he and Mary built a new home.

Irvin had a band and played the accordion for dances around the area in South Dakota and North Dakota. He had one of Lawrence Welk's custom made accordions. It was always a treat when he would play for family gatherings and special occasions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family reunions, and camping with family and friends. Irvin and Mary also enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spending the winter months in Laughlin, NV, for many years. Irvin enjoyed taking his grandchildren on fishing and camping trips. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather who will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen.

Irvin is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 62 years; one son, Peter; two daughters, Rebecca and Jerilyn; and one sister, Alvina Wulf.

Grateful to have shared in Irvin's life are his children: Judy Easterday of Annapolis, MD, Jeannie (Larry) Schock of Aberdeen, SD, Debbie (Eldon) Wiese of Storm Lake, IA, Mary Lee (Travis) Crabtree of Mount Dora, FL, Jack (Elaine) Geffre of Leola, SD, Bill Geffre of Lead, SD, Rick Geffre of Pierre, SD, and Lisa (Steven) Bokelheide of Aberdeen, SD; fifteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
