Irene M. Hanson, 85, of Aberdeen, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services, Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser, Celebrant.

Irene's wishes were to be cremated with inurnment to take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Aberdeen.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign her online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Visitation will be 6-7 p.m., Monday, at the mortuary, with a Liturgical Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.

Irene M. Fischer was born on September 8, 1928, to John and Magdalena (Feist) Fischer in Eagle Butte, SD. She attended school in Eagle Butte except for the year she attended St. Martin's Academy in Sturgis, SD. Irene's family moved to Aberdeen in 1945. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1946. During her senior year of high school, Irene worked at Woolworth Store. Her working career included employment at Jewett Drug, Hub City Iron, K.O. Lee and at Western Printing.

Irene was united in marriage to Francis "Buff" Hanson on April 1, 1948. Their union was blessed with six daughters. They shared 38 years of marriage before Francis passed away in 1986. Irene was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen.

Blessed to have shared her life are her daughters: Linda (Thomas) Blair of Deadwood, SD, Sherry Schumacher and Louie Jung of Aberdeen, SD, Nancy Adams and Terry Boyle of Mansfield, SD, Cathy Hanson and John Brixey of Frederick, SD, Peggy (Robert) Steiner of Watertown, SD and Vicky Hanson and Duane Bickett of Sioux Falls, SD; 15 grandchildren; 17great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson; one brother, Andrew Fischer of Aberdeen; and one sister, Mary (Jim) Olson of Aberdeen.

Irene's parents, husband, two brothers, Max Fischer and Leo Fischer, one sister, Eva Bringman, son-in-law, Joe Schumacher and one granddaughter, Courtney Steiner preceded her in death.
