Ida Reis

Ida E. Reis, 95, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Father Andrew Dickinson officiating.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at the mortuary with a liturgical wake at 7 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.

Ida E. Brink was born March 17, 1927, to Ivan and Ruth (Joslin) Brink in Aberdeen, SD, where she was raised and attended St. Mary's Catholic School. After school, Ida was employed with Bethesda Nursing Home as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Ida married her high school sweetheart, Bernard A. Reis on June 11, 1945, in Aberdeen, SD. Together they had four children: Louise, Bonnie, Mike, and Brad. The family made their home and raised their family in Aberdeen until 1983 when they retired and moved to McAllen, TX. Ida returned to South Dakota in 2017 and resided in Mobridge, SD, for a short time until she moved back to Aberdeen.

Ida enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and liked to crochet. Ida was very active in the community, she was a member of and involved in several groups and organizations including Lady Fireman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Fireman, St. Mary’s Church, Hart Ranch Resort, Charter Member of Hub City Sam’s RV Club, Coast-to-Coast Camping Club, the Single Ladies Club.

Grateful for having shared Ida’s life are her children: Louise Strandberg of Mission, TX, Bonnie (Terry) Zerr of Woodbury, MN, Mike (Dorothy) Reis of Mobridge, SD, and Bradley (Kymberly) Reis of Lead, SD; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters; one brother, a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
