Harley E. Allbee, 76, of Aberdeen, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019, in Aberdeen, following a long battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian burial is 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Father Mark Lichter officiating.

Burial is at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen, is handling arrangements.  Family and friends may sign Harley’s online guestbook and view his service via the live stream service link at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.

Harley was born April 26, 1943, in Aberdeen, SD, the son of Lloyd and Susan (Cooper) Allbee. He grew up on the family farm near Wecota, SD, before the family moved to Cresbard, SD.  He graduated from Cresbard High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation, Harley proudly entered the U.S. Army, and served his country from 1961 to 1964, stationed at Fort Riley and serving in Berlin, Germany. After his honorable discharge, Harley worked in Huron before entering the Police Academy. Harley was employed with the Aberdeen Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. Harley married Dixie Snow on November 26, 1966, in Aberdeen. He retired from the police force in 1989. In the years after that, he spent time helping on family farms, being the ‘go-to’ when the family needed things done, and taking care of lawns and snow removal for the neighborhood. Harley enjoyed attending various activities of his granddaughters.  He was an avid wild wolf enthusiast. Harley was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Sacred Heart Church.

He is survived by his wife Dixie; his children, Linda of Grand Forks, ND, and Kristin (Neal) Kline of Huron, SD; granddaughters, Madelyn and Macey Kline of Huron, SD; siblings, Geneva (Jerry) Van Rennes of Chandler, AZ and Jan (Dale) Gieseke of Faribault, MN; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Clifford Allbee, Alfred Allbee, Verla Matthews, and (infant) Mary Ellen Allbee.
