Gloria Ann Becker, 82, of Aberdeen formerly Rockham, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at her home.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at New Life Fellowship, 619 8th Ave NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Mark Zimmerman officiating. Burial will take place at Rockham Grace Cemetery in Rockham, SD.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Ave NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign her online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the mortuary with a public prayer service being held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Gloria Ann Michalke was born on April 4, 1931, to Florian J. and Mabel (Brendt) Michalke in Fairmont, Minnesota. This is the area where she was raised and attended school.
Gloria was united in marriage to Delbert Becker on March 9, 1952, at Fairmont. The couple moved to the Rockham, SD area where they farmed and made their home for many years. Gloria was employed with the Faulkton County Memorial Hospital for several years and later worked for the Redfield State Hospital until she retired. Gloria and Delbert raised six children and shared over 44 years of marriage before Delbert passed away in May of 1996. Gloria moved to Aberdeen in December of 2012, and continued to reside there until the time of her death.
Gloria was a very compassionate and giving person and spent much of her time serving as a Lay Minister for her church and visiting many nursing homes. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and reading. She was also known for the editorials she wrote to the Faulkton, Miller and Redfield newspapers.
Blessed to have shared Gloria's life are her children, Brad (Diane) Becker of Aberdeen, Doug (Linda) Becker of Rockham, SD, Carolyn (Kenny) Simon of Aberdeen and Susanne (Mark) Long of Cresbard, SD; two daughters-in-law, Mary Becker of Fairmont, MN and Kim Becker of Rockham, SD; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; one brother, Ken (Lorraine) Michalke of Truman, MN; one sister, Donna Decker of Granada, MN.
Gloria's parents; husband, Delbert; two sons, Lynn Becker and Troy Becker; one grandson, Jason Becker; and one sister, Flora Schaeffer preceded her in death.
