Glen Allen Mack

Glen Allen Mack, 53, died peacefully in the early hours of December 23, 2014, at St. Luke's Avera Hospital, in Aberdeen, SD, after a brief and valiant fight with cancer. He was with his loving wife, Christi, and children, Katy and Jason, in addition to being surrounded by the love and prayers of many family and friends.

Memorial service for Glen will be 11:00am Saturday, December 27, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 502 South Lincoln Street, with Pastor Derek Baum officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Ave NW is in charge of arrangements.

Glen was born April 29, 1961 in Aberdeen to Arnold and Mary Ann (Lechner) Mack. He grew up on a family farm near Forbes, SD and attended school in Leola, SD. Glen married Christi Nelson on June 30, 1984, and they celebrated the birth of Jason in 1988 and Katy in 1991. Glen was a master mechanic, who started his career at Blumhardt Chevrolet in Ellendale, ND until moving to Steven Lust Chevrolet in Aberdeen in February, 1984, where he worked until shortly before his death.

Everyone who met Glen was amazed at his positive, laidback attitude, symbolized by his stating, to the very end, that he was doing "pretty good." Behind this mellow exterior, however, was the heart of a lion, who will be remembered for his devotion and loyalty to his family, love for his wife, pride and love for his children, hard work ethic, and his "I can fix it for you" attitude to anyone who crossed his path. Glen's other passions included hunting, fishing, and riding his Harley; a good chat over breakfast with his son, friend, brother, or nephews; and goofiness with his daughter, nieces, or sisters. Glen leaves behind a void that will never be filled, but those who are grieving his loss are honored and humbled to have shared so many special moments in his life.

Blessed to have shared Glen's life on this earth are his wife, Christi; his children, Jason, Aberdeen, and Katy, Sturgis, SD; his father, Arnold, Leola; mother-in-law, Carol Nelson, Aberdeen; siblings, Gary (Carole) Mack, Karen (Mark) Daniels, and Wanda (Jason) Swartz, all of Aberdeen; sisters-in-law, Shari Nelson, Grand Forks, ND, and Shelly (Rob) Courtney, Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Proud to call him uncle are Rosie & Alex McDonald, Chase & Tyler Severson, Sarah (Mark) Bleeker, Jesse (Samantha) Daniels, Samantha & Amanda Daniels, and Amber (Derek) Allen.

Preceding Glen in death and awaiting him with open arms are his mother, Mary Ann Mack; father-in-law, Bud Nelson; and nephew, Aaron Harris.
