Gerald “Jerry” Biegler was born September 14, 1946, in Aberdeen, SD, to Del and Phyllis (Meyer) Biegler. He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1964. Following high school, he attended Northern State College and Western College of Auctioneering.

Jerry was united in marriage to his eighth-grade sweetheart, Judy Mitchell, on October 23, 1965, in Aberdeen, SD. Six months after they were married, Uncle Sam “invited” Jerry to join the Army. He served from 1966 to 1968 with 13 months in Korea as a Sgt.E5 MP. While in Korea, he was selected to help guard Vice President Humphrey on a visit to Seoul. Jerry was a proud 56-year member of the American Legion.

From a young age, Jerry was involved with horses. He raised and showed Quarter Horses, competed in pro rodeo calf roping, and was a founder of the Buckhorn Rodeo in Britton, SD.

Livestock played a monumental part in Jerry’s career also. He started out as an auctioneer with Aberdeen Livestock and then became owner/manager of Marshall Livestock and Modern Beef in Britton, SD. He then became employed by Cargill Nutrena Feeds, during which time he earned membership in their prestigious President’s Club. Later, Jerry was Feedlot Manager with Supersweet Feeds, Zip Feeds, and Dakotaland Feeds. He proudly worked over the years with the same feedlot owners whom he considered more like friends than customers.

Jerry was a “fun-loving uncle” to many nieces and nephews, and they shared many memories together.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Judy; brother, Richard (Penny) Biegler; sister, Bunny (David) Carda; sister-in-law, Phyllis Biegler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis.

The family wishes to thank the Avera Dialysis Health Care Team for their support over the last seven years. Also, to Avera Hospice for their care during this difficult time.

Pallbearers will be Cory Biegler, Matt Biegler, Cordell Vitense, Jayden Biegler, Shawn Mitchell, and Jeremy Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Schley, Marlin Nilsson, Keith Schroeder, Bill Richter, Tim Nikolas, and Owen Shunkwiler.
