Fred T. Rosendahl

November 12, 1925 — December 22, 2014

Fred T. Rosendahl, 89, of Aberdeen, SD, and formerly of Lake City, IA, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab.

Fred's wishes were to be cremated with a graveside service being held at a later date in Iowa.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Fred T. Rosendahl was born on November 12, 1925, at Ft. Dodge, IA, to Ubbe and Sue (Willis) Rosendahl. He was raised and attended school in Lake City, IA, and graduated from high school in 1943.

Fred entered the United States Marine Corp in February of 1944 and served his country during the Occupation of China before receiving his honorable discharge in August of 1946.

Fred married Margaret Sawin in the early 1950s. The couple moved to Omaha, NE, where Fred held numerous jobs as a Maintenance Engineer and doing construction. He and Margaret were very active in the Foster Parent Program and cared for over 17 foster children during their years together. Following Margaret's death in 1994, Fred returned to Lake City, IA.

Fred was united in marriage to Delores Mohr in 2000, at Lake City, IA. The couple resided there until October of 2013, when Fred moved to Aberdeen due to his ill health to be closer to family. Fred continued to make Aberdeen his home until the time of his death. Fred was a true handyman and was always fixing and building things.

Grateful to have shared in Fred's life is his wife, Delores Rosendahl of Carol, IA; son, Doug (Julie) Larson of Aberdeen; three grandchildren: Josh Larson, Trevor Larson, and Shauna Larson, all of Aberdeen; one brother, Gene (Shirley) Rosendahl of Des Moines, IA; and one sister, Rose Rosendahl of Lake City, IA.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and one foster-son, Butch Blum.
