Mass of Christian burial for Frances Kiefer, 89, of Aberdeen, will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser, Celebrant. Burial follows at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at the mortuary, with a Liturgical Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before Mass at church on Thursday.
Frances passed away Friday, October 24, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen.
Frances Kiefer was born August 30, 1925 to Jacob and Eva (Dosch) Schneider on a farm east of Strasburg, ND. She attended rural school.
On October 14, 1947, she married Valentine Kiefer at Sacred Heart Church east of Linton, ND, and they moved to Aberdeen, SD. To this union were born four children: Linda (Thomas) Mines, Leroy Kiefer, Jenny (Gene) Larson and Gene (Kathy) Kiefer.
Frances was a member of St Mary's Altar Society and Christian Mothers. She embroidered beautiful dishtowels for family and friends, and was the master of putting together jig saw puzzles.
In addition to her children, Frances is survived by 15 grandchildren: Ann and Todd Bailey, Adam Mines, Lisa and Kevin Gilreath, Gina and Randy Smith, Rochelle and Hammie Wiggins, Rebecca and Luke Racette, Valerie Weber, Kari and Troy Allen, and Bradley Kiefer; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Leroy; brother, Al; and sister, Johanna.
