Frances Louise Altermatt

Frances Louise Altermatt, 93, Aberdeen, SD, formerly of Alexandria, MN, died Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Nano Nagle Village Assisted Living in Aberdeen, SD.

Per Fran’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Internment for both Frances and Harold will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN at a future date.

Frances was born on December 7, 1931, in Brown County, MN, the first of 13 children of Edward and Glendora Green. She graduated from high school in 1949 and married Harold Charles Altermatt on August 26, 1950. Frances enjoyed Minnesota Twins baseball, fishing, and word search puzzles. She was an excellent seamstress and embroiderer.

Grateful for having shared Frances' life are her daughters: Kate (Fred) Brown, Thomasville, GA, Jane (Terry) Voeltz, Aberdeen, SD, Judy (Scott) McGerr, Brainerd, MN, Mary Abrajano, Liz Altermatt, both of Jacksonville, FL, and Rebecca Altermatt, West Hartford, CT; and son Steve Altermatt, Old Town, FL; Sisters: Phyllis Haugen, Darlene (Jim) Erhlichman, Laurie Evans, Bev (Bob) Bolduc, Rose (Steve) O'Brien, Glenette Green; brother, David (Doreen) Green; As well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, sister Anita, and brothers Douglas, Ted, Charlie, and Dennis.
