Erna A. Gross, 101, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Mother Joseph Manor.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Plymouth Congregational Church, with Reverend Blair Kirkpatrick officiating.
Burial will take place at Riverside Memorial Park following the service.
A time for fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at the church hall.

Erna Gross was born February 22, 1924, in Eureka, SD, and grew up 8 miles southwest of Eureka on the family farm. She married Marvin Gross on November 17, 1946, and the couple resided in Java, SD, until 1953, before moving back to Eureka. In 1987, after a full and rewarding life, they relocated to Aberdeen. Erna was a devoted member of Plymouth Congregational Church.
Erna loved the outdoors, including walking, gardening, canning, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
Erna will be remembered for her long life, the love she carried for her family, and the many lives she touched over her 101 years.
Special people in her life who became like family include Lorraine Biel and Delilah Biel (70+ years), John and Laurie Schwan and their children Kyle, Kevin, Katie, and Kory, and Joyce Strickland.
Erna is survived by her daughter, Paulette (Joe) Fettig, along with their two children, Lauren Fettig and Joseph Fettig; Byron’s children, Robert (Josie) Gross, Chris Gross, and Michael (Jessica) Gross; and 12 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Erna was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; parents, John and Christina Stabler; son, Byron; daughter-in-law, Sonny; granddaughter, Lisa; great-grandson, Lynx; five brothers; and two sisters.
Erna’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Mother Joseph Manor for their compassionate care of Erna.
