Funeral services for Eric F. Schultz, 99, of Aberdeen, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 915 South Dakota Street, Aberdeen, with Pastor D.T. Rawerts officiating.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

A second service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont, IL.

Visitation in Altamont will be two hours prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham, Illinois with military rites.

Eric passed away at 6:15 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2015, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor Retirement Community in Aberdeen, SD.

Eric Friederich Schultz was born in Altamont, Illinois on November 4th 1915, the son of Henry D. and Emilie (Tappendorf) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altamont. He attended Christian Day School at the church. He remained a member there, and also served numerous offices. After moving to Florida, he became a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Ocala, and later joined Abiding Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ocala. He later joined Trinity Lutheran Church, Aberdeen.

His first full-time employment was for Altamont Supply Co. His employment was terminated when he was called to serve in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater from Melbourne, Australia to the Philippine liberation. Following his basic training at Camp Wheeler, Ga., he was assigned to the 813th Military Police Co. Eric's group guarded the headquarters of General MacArthur in Melbourne, Australia. After four years and two months, he was discharged on Sept. 20th 1945.

He was a lifelong member of Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post 7676, Altamont, IL.

He married Rose Richert on November 27, 1948 at Saint Peter, IL Lutheran Parsonage. This union was blessed with two children, Kathryn and Mark.

After separation from the Army, he was employed by Norge Division, Effingham, IL; Altamont Motor Company; and Adkins & Dufrain, Newton, IL, from where he retired in 1980. In 1985, Eric and Rose moved to Ocala, FL where they lived for 24 years before moving to Aberdeen, SD in December 2009. Eric had been in the nursing home since January 10, 2014.

He is survived by daughter, Kathryn Gobczynski and her husband (Alan) of Aberdeen, SD; son, Mark of Mulberry, Arkansas; grandson, Jonathan of Aberdeen; sister-in-law, Lorna Schultz; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rose in 2010, brother Edmund in 2001, brother Arnold in 2005, and Arnold's two wives Gertrude and Gertrude.
