Emilia Schwab, 95, of Aberdeen, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor Retirement Community in Aberdeen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser as Celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary with a Liturgical Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at church on Friday.
Emilia (Lipp) Schwab was born on October 31, 1919, to Matthias and Margaret (Fisher) Lipp at Strasburg, ND. This is the area where she was raised and attended school while helping her brothers and sisters with the chores on the family farm.
Emilia was united in marriage to Peter E. Schwab on February 11, 1941, in Strasburg. Their union was blessed with three children. Most of Emilia's career was spent as a housewife and stay-at-home mom.
Emilia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen. She was also a member of the Aberdeen Ladies Eagle's Auxiliary for many years, where she held various officer positions and was presented with the "Mother of the Year" award for three consecutive years. Emilia's pride and joy were her grandchildren.
Grateful to have shared Emilia's life are her children: Duane Schwab of Aberdeen, Carol (Ron) Harmon of Westminster, CO, and Lana Schwab of Denver, CO; six grandchildren: Kris Schwab of Aberdeen, Matt Schwab and Scott Schwab of Jackson Hole, WY, Kayla Harmon of Denver, CO, Tania (Shawn) Heitman of Highlands Ranch, CO and Evan (Tashina) Zacher of Sioux Falls, SD; eight great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Emilia was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and all of her siblings: Mike, Tony, Martin "Happy", Matty, Ray, Maggie and Irene.
