Elaine Marie Tobin was born May 24, 1942, in Huron, SD, to Fred W. and Irene (Mortimer) Tobin. She was a graduate of Hitchcock High School in 1960 and graduated from Northern State College in August of 1963. Elaine taught music and English in several South Dakota schools after graduation. She left the teaching profession and worked for the South Dakota Farmers Union, The School For The Visually Handicapped in Aberdeen, SD, Bank First, Violet Tschetter Memorial Home, and as a home care specialist.

Elaine was a master gardener and enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables. She sought out unique varieties of flowers and vegetables to grow in her gardens and many enjoyed her flowers and produce. Elaine shared her gift of music with family, friends, in the work place, and as a choir member at church. Her guitar playing and singing brought much joy to others. Elaine put her word power to the test with the crossword puzzles she enjoyed doing. Elaine's love of animals was evident in the many pets she shared her home with over the years.

Elaine was an excellent cook and candy maker. She had perfected her mother's fudge recipe and peanut brittle making. The December candy making was infamous and resulted in perpetuating a tradition started by Elaine's mother. Many family members and friends looked forward to receiving one of her candy boxes. Elaine moved from Huron, SD to Aberdeen in 2012. She was united in marriage to Carl Wright in 2013. They made their home in Aberdeen along with Elaine's beloved dogs JoJo and Jasmine.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Carl, of Aberdeen; her brother, Jay Tobin and his wife Kristin, of Aberdeen; her brother, Tom Tobin and his wife Sharlyn, of Aberdeen; her sister, Colette Schmidtke and husband Dave, of Charles City, IA, and her sister, Lori Tobin, of Canton, SD. Elaine is also survived by nieces, Kasey Jo and Lauren Tobin; nephews: Reese and Alex Tobin, Matt, Michael, and Marc Tobin, and Evan and Tim Schmidtke; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Loren and Timothy: and her sister, Lynn.

In lieu of flowers, Elaine's family requests that memorials be made to kidney research, the Humane Society in either Aberdeen or Huron, or to the Aberdeen Parks & Recreation Center Kitchen Fund.
