Dorothy Carol Jandl

Our Mom, Dorothy Jandl, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD.

Mom was born on December 24, 1926, in Webster, SD to Frances and Dorothy Hallstrom. Webster was her home where she grew up, went to school, and worked at the local diner.

Mom married our dad, Henry Jandl, on December 2, 1946 in Webster, SD. They moved around for a while before making Aberdeen their permanent home. Mom and Dad were married for 58 years when Dad passed away on September 23, 2004.

Our Mom loved to fish for hours, even when the fish weren't biting. Mom also followed NASCAR racing, always cheering for Jeff Gordon. Mom enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, doing crafts, and visiting with her neighbors. As our family grew, one of Mom's favorite things to do was to spend time with her four grandchildren, Shauna (Don) Welker, Sean Smith, Jes (Levi) Dinger, and Kayla (Matt) Campbell, and then a little later, her four great grandchildren, Max and Bella Welker, Camden and Talon Dinger.

Thankful for having shared in Mom's life are Lynn (John) Smith of Aberdeen; Mike (Peg) Jandl of Miami; and Mary Jo (Dave) Woods of Aberdeen.

We will honor our Mom's request and have a private family memorial service at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen, SD.

In lieu of flowers, we prefer memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Children's Miracle Network in Mom's name. Both of these organizations were very important to our Mom.
