Donna M. Ness, 88, of Aberdeen, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen.

Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Chapel, 1620 Milwaukee Ave NE, Aberdeen, with Pastor Kevin Bergeson officiating.

Donna’s wishes were to be cremated with burial taking place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen at a later date.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  No visitation will take place at the mortuary.

Donna Marie Hammer was born February 12, 1930 in Waubay, SD to Melvin and Mable (Hagen) Hammer.  She attended grade school and graduated from Summit High School in Summit, SD.  Donna then taught grade school for approximately two years.

Donna was united in marriage to Paul G. Ness at Summit on August 17, 1950.  They shared 67 years of marriage and had two sons, Carter Wayne and Jason Paul.  Because Paul was employed with the Milwaukee Railroad for 60 years, he and the family were stationed in Montevideo, MN and Aberdeen.  Donna loved her home at each location and her family always came first.  She loved being a mom, and getting her boys ready for Sunday school and Confirmation was always top priority for her.

In her spare time, Donna enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends and traveling, which she was able to do a great deal of.

Donna is survived by her husband, Paul and her son, Carter, both of Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jason Paul, who passed away due to injuries received in a car accident.
