Donald “Don" Meyer, 90, of Mina, SD, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen, with Father Patrick Grode as celebrant.

Don’s wishes were to be cremated.  Burial, with military rites, will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.  Friends may sign Don’s online guestbook and also view his service via the live stream service link at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church on Friday.

Donald “Don” Meyer was born in Booker, TX on September 8, 1927, to Andy and Fannie (Hynek) Meyer. He grew up on a farm outside of Booker and graduated from high school in 1944.

In 1945, Don enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA, where he met the love of his life, Dot Morgen. They married in Pomona, CA in 1948.  After moving to SD in 1949, they began their farming career and moved to their current farm in 1952, where Don resided until his death. Along with his love of farming and the land, he was able to continue his passion of woodworking throughout his life.

Blessed to have shared Don’s life is his spouse of 70 years, Dot Meyer of Mina, SD; 10 children:  Mike (Holly) Meyer of Georgetown, TX, Tom Meyer of Frederick, SD, Chris Whites of Rochester, NY, Kathy (Byron) Baule of Brownsville, OR, Jeff (JoAnn) Meyer of O’Fallon, IL, Pat (Earl) Weisenburger of Aberdeen, SD, Bob Meyer of Modesto, CA, Barb (Dave) Perrion of Sioux Falls, SD, Dan (Susie) Meyer of Brandon, SD and Lyn (Steve) Whitney of Los Angeles, CA; 25 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 11 siblings; and one daughter-in-law.
