Donald Bruce Bad Moccasin Jr., 51, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at New Life Fellowship, 619 8th Ave NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Chuck Hogle officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Donald “Don” Bad Moccasin Jr. was born to Bruce and Rita (Sinclair) Bad Moccasin on August 26, 1973 in Pierre, SD.  His family lived in Aberdeen, Oklahoma City, Mobridge, and Rapid City, before returning to Aberdeen, SD.  Don graduated from Aberdeen Central High School class of 1991.  In school, he was a “Motor Head” and loved to drag race his 1979 hot pink Chevy Malibu.

He worked at the high school as a janitor and continued with many other occupations that involved car parts, agricultural sales, farm hand, DJ’ing and other sound productions.

During his first marriage he was blessed with two children, Beatrice Grace and Cetan Kinyan Solomon.

Don married Kathaleen Gordon on September 22, 2012, in Aberdeen, SD.  They are members of the New Life Church family and have volunteered for many church activities, including Stephen Ministry.  They enjoyed hunting, bowling, golf, driving his side-by-side, grilling/cooking, DJ’ing at weddings/parties, traveling with family and stopping to eat at as many Diners, Drive-in and Dive restaurants they could.  He was a board member of the Brown County Sportsman Club and the National Wild Turkey Federation and also volunteered for the NSU American Indian Advisory Committee.

In December, 2024, Don finished his treatment for Amyloidosis and was looking forward to feeling better and enjoying many more years with his family and beloved pets Hunter, Freddie, Oliver, and Bandit.  He made friends wherever he went and helped everyone he could with utmost compassion. He will be forever loved and missed by many.

Don is survived by his wife Kathy; his children Bea, Cetan Kinyan, Allen, Brandon, Mikaela, and Kaitlyn; 10 grandchildren; parents Bruce and Rita Bad Moccasin; sister Jaime (Christian) Berens; niece Saige (Cole) Behrens; two grand nephews; and also many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He has a Hunka brother Lawrence Archambault and two Hunka children, Ariel and Willy Youpee.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Alma and Sidney Bad Moccasin, and Leo and Emily Sinclair; granddaughter Autumn Safar; and numerous aunts, uncles, and other beloved family members.
