Donald L. Brick, 88, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Pastor Deb Grismer, officiating. Burial will take place at the Warner Cemetery, Warner, SD.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, September 1, 2014, at the mortuary, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Donald Llewellyn Brick was born on December 18, 1925, to Gust and Annie (Kaven) Brick at their home west of Warner, SD. He attended Old Glory School and Mina School before graduating from Warner High School.
Don married Helen J. Grote on September 26, 1946, in Aberdeen. The couple began their life on what was known as Dunker's Farm west of Warner, SD. In 1956, they moved and started their family farm south of Mina, SD. Don was a lifetime farmer who was proud to raise lineage Hereford cattle that dated back to his Dad's herd. He enjoyed raising Canadian geese that migrated back each spring to the farm.
Don loved collecting Winchester guns, hunting, and participating in the Aberdeen Trapshooting Gun Club. Don restored a 1939 Chevy Truck with the help of his son, Greg. Don also enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, especially when they were winning.
Donald is survived by his wife, Helen J. Brick of Aberdeen; his children: Allan Brick and Gregory Brick, both of Aberdeen, Cathy Brick of Goodyear, AZ, Leslie Brick of Phoenix, AZ, Cherri Lynn Brick of Mansfield, SD, Donna (Fulvio) Spaziani of Thornton, CO, and Janet (Aiman) Abu-Sirriya of Aberdeen; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Gust and Annie Brick; brother, Walter Brick; sister, Catherine Brick; and daughter, Connie (Brick) Hansen.
Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association on behalf of his wife, Helen J. Brick.
