Dolores Ann Benfit was born at home on September 6, 1936, to Casper E. and Mary K. (Seiler) Benfit in Aberdeen, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Church. She attended St. Mary’s school through the 9th grade and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1954. She worked at Franklin Dairy during high school and worked at International Harvester after graduation.

Dolores was a stay-at-home mom to her four children until they were all in school. She began her thirty-year employment with Firestone in 1966 and retired in 1996. She enjoyed her job and her co-workers.

After she retired, she joined the Washington Street Gym ladies' exercise group, and she was still a member at the time of her death.

Dolores volunteered at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital for a few years. She was a faithful volunteer at the St. Mary’s Bazaar, contributing many baked goodies and helping serve many bazaar dinners. The most significant volunteer work she did was serving funeral luncheons at St. Mary’s Church for 24 years.

She enjoyed reading, embroidery work, and word search puzzles. She played in three card clubs and was a founding member of one of the clubs over 60 years ago. She made many friends in her exercise group and enjoyed going out to coffee and lunch with them. She also enjoyed the ladies who lived in her apartment building.

Most of all, she enjoyed family get-togethers. She loved her trips to Wyoming, celebrating Christmas and many birthdays with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She loved to snuggle with all the babies born over the years.

Dolores is survived by her children: Marcy (Randy Wipf) Fritz, Keith (Nan) Green, Mike Green, and Brad (Kelly) Green; her sister, Betty Jean Heine; and nieces and nephews; she also leaves behind seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Mary Weigold; and two grandsons, Joseph Green and Joshua Fritz.

Anyone who knew our mom well knew she couldn’t pass up a good sale, especially if there was a good coupon involved. We will miss our “Rebate Queen”! You were the best mom ever, and we will miss you more than you will ever know.  Peace be with you.
