Dolores Monica Forrest, 87, of Aberdeen, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen, with Father David Janes, Celebrant. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign her online guestbook at schriversmemorial.com.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at the mortuary, with a Liturgical Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at the church on Wednesday.

Dolores Monica Henegar was born on August 29, 1927, in Aberdeen, SD, to Thomas Jefferson and Josephine (Boulis) Henegar. This is the area where she was raised and attended school.

Dolores was united in marriage to Charles Dwight Forrest on July 6, 1947, in Aberdeen. The couple made Aberdeen their home, where Dolores was employed with Four Brothers Market and was a teacher's aid and lunchroom assistant at Roncalli Middle School before operating her own daycare. Dolores and Charles shared over 54 years of marriage before he passed away on August 5, 2001. Dolores continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of her death.

Dolores was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen, where she was active in the Altar Society Band 11, Catholic Daughters and the church bazaar. She enjoyed working with ceramics, playing Bingo and playing cards with her friends and neighbors. Dolores was also an avid bowler.

Blessed to have shared her life are her children: Chuck (Linda) Forrest and Daniel (Barb) Forrest, both of Aberdeen, Cindy (Milo) Mohr of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Joanne (Glen) Ackerman of Denver, CO, Julie (Brad Peterson) Briggs of Sioux Falls, SD and Tammy (Jerry) Lefforge of Mansfield, SD; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant son and one infant daughter.
