Dianne Marie (Zach) Koenig

Dianne Marie (Zach) Koenig, 74, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, SD, with Father Andrew Dickinson officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Rosholt, SD.

Dianne Marie Zach was born August 27, 1946, in Breckenridge, MN to Andrew and Iona (Matteson) Zach.  She grew up and attended elementary school and high school in Rosholt, SD, graduating in 1964.

Following graduation, Dianne became a wife and a mother, living on the family farm until 1983, when she and her children moved to Bristol, SD.  While living in Bristol, she worked at Sun Dial Manor and after her children graduated from high school, she remarried in 1990 and moved to Fairfax, SD.  During that time, she was involved with bowling, traveling, and welcoming new grandchildren into the family.  She also lived in Atkinson, NE, O’Neill, NE, and Platte, SD before moving to Aberdeen in 2003.  While living in Aberdeen, Dianne worked at Mother Joseph Manor as a Certified Nurse Assistant until her retirement.

Dianne took up several hobbies during her life including latch hook, painting, calligraphy, video games and puzzles, as well as traveling to family events and to see her grandchildren.  Her favorite hobby, however, was bowling and she participated in many tournaments and received a wide variety of trophies.  She also loved to go for walks at Storybook Land when she was still physically able and enjoyed playing games on the computer along with watching various television programs.  Dianne adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

Dianne is survived by her four children:  Lowell Hazelton of Wichita, KS, Michael Hazelton of Madison, NE, Lori (Michael) Ethington of O’Neill, NE and Marie (Steve) DenOuden of Aberdeen, SD; seven grandchildren: Chad (Leslie) Hazelton, Jessica (Cam) Goldman, Kendra (Joel) Steinhauser, Matthew Ethington, Sarah Ethington, Stephanie (Kyle) Erdahl, and Kylie DenOuden; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene (Sue) Zach of Rapid City, SD.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Iona Zach; two brothers, Robert Zach and Donald Zach; and an infant sister, Mary Ann Zach.
