Dianne Elizabeth Schmahl

Dianne Elizabeth Schmahl, 53, of Aberdeen, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Eldon Reich presiding. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the mortuary on Wednesday.

Dianne Elizabeth Muldoon was born on April 5, 1960, to Joseph Micheal Muldoon, Jr. and Lila M. (Heim) Muldoon, in Aberdeen, SD. This is the area where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School in 1978.

Dianne was united in marriage to Richard Schmahl at Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen on August 4, 1978. The couple then moved to Colorado for a year before returning to Aberdeen, where Dianne worked in food service at various restaurants. Dianne was also employed at The Learning Tree Day Care and found great enjoyment in working with children.

Surviving Dianne is her husband, Richard Schmahl of Aberdeen; son, Matt (Jessica) Schmahl of Rapid City, SD; daughter, Ashley (Grasen) Lechner of Aberdeen; three grandchildren: Rachel, Kaitlyn, and Madison Schmahl; her mother, Lila M. Muldoon of Aberdeen; her brothers: Micheal (Connie) Muldoon and Roger Muldoon, both of Aberdeen; her sisters, Barb (Rick) Daugherty of Huron, SD and Janice (Tim) Hofer of Aberdeen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dianne's dogs, "Buddy" and "Lexi" also held a special place in her heart.

Dianne's father, Joseph Jr.; one sister, Dawn; and one nephew, Robert Muldoon, preceded her in death.

Casket bearers will be: Richard Schmahl, Matt Schmahl, Micheal Muldoon, Roger Muldoon, Barb Daugherty, Janice Hofer and Nick Daugherty.

Honorary casket bearers will be Dianne's grandchildren: Rachel, Kaitlyn and Madison Schmahl.
