Dennis John Volk, 54, of Aberdeen, peacefully passed away Monday, October 14, 2013, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation, at the mortuary, will be from 5-6 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2013. A memorial service, led by Pastor Jeff Whillock, will follow at 6:00 p.m.
Dennis was born on September 6, 1959, to F. Kenneth and Loretta Volk. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1977.
He began his career at Cardinal Tool in Aberdeen. He later moved to Longmont, Colorado and started a successful mold making business, Colorado Mold Specialist, LLC, as a tool and die maker.
He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rockies, Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Buffalos.
Dennis will be deeply missed by his daughter, Christy (Ryan) Johnson of Prior Lake, Minnesota and son, D.J. Volk of Denver, Colorado; his mother, Loretta Volk of Aberdeen, South Dakota; his brother, Duane (Nancy) Volk of Aberdeen, South Dakota; his sister, Deanna (Dale) Frederick of Killeen, Texas; his grandchildren, Marcus and Tayler Connell of Prior Lake, Minnesota; and his adoring nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, F. Kenneth Volk.
He also had a very special place in his heart for his dog, Tina.
