Debbie Catherine Rathert, 63, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center, Aberdeen, after a short battle with cancer.

There will be a Celebration of Life Visitation held from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Debbie Catherine Hammrich was born on August 3, 1962, in Ipswich, SD, to Clarence and Darlene (Scholand) Hammrich. She attended Ipswich High School, graduating in 1980.

Debbie was united in marriage to Marti Rathert on May 13, 1985, in Aberdeen, SD. They were blessed with the birth of their son, Devin, in 1984.

Debbie worked at Mavericks in Aberdeen, SD, for the past eight years. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and spending time with her granddaughters, Amelia and Layla. She also enjoyed having a red beer and occasional weekend trips to the river.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Marti; son, Devin; granddaughters, Amelia and Layla; stepmother, Judy Hammerich; sisters: Renae (Gordie) Gauer, Shelly Hammrich, Jody Sheriff, and Kara Hammrich; brothers: Jason Hammrich and Kevin Hammrich; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Darlene; paternal grandparents, Carl and Amelia Hammrich; maternal grandparents, William and Myrah Scholand; and sisters, Annette and Jana.
