David Holm was born on July 17, 1961, to Dewayne and Hazel (Estwick) Holm in Aberdeen, SD, where he was raised and attended Aberdeen Public Schools. David was a longtime resident of Aberdeen, where he lived a life defined by the work of his hands and the kindness of his heart. His work and life took him to various locations in the Midwest. A talented painter and laborer by trade, David was always a friendly face in the community.
His true happiness was found in nature. An avid fisherman, David was most at home on the lake or in a boat. He loved the sport of fishing, the patience it required, and the thrill of the catch. David spent the best times of his life with his Dad and family chasing walleye.
David faced several battles throughout his years, but those who loved him knew his strength. He will be remembered not for his struggles but for his warm heart, resilience, and love for his family. David was the proud father of Callie Gillard, who currently resides in Alaska. Callie is blessed with a husband, John, and five beautiful children. David also cherished his extended family, including his nieces, nephews, and cousins from Rapid City, South Dakota.
David took great pride in his work alongside his brother, Steve Holm, at A-1, keeping their fleet of trucks in top condition.
Grateful for having shared David’s life are his parents, Dewayne and Hazel Holm; his five siblings: Steve Holm, Kim (Dave) Doris, Mike Holm, Paul (Nikki) Holm, and Jan (Jim) Reuschlein.
David was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and his niece, Sarah Holm.
