Daryl Thomas

Daryl Thomas, 70, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab. During his time there, he walked around passing out hugs and enjoyed snacks.

A Graveside Committal Service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Daryl was born on October 5, 1955, to Anton and Mary (Heinz) Thomas. He grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. He lived with his mom until her passing. They helped each other out. She never drove, so he was her chauffeur whenever she wanted to go somewhere.

Daryl was a very outgoing, people-person and enjoyed saying “hi” to everyone on his walks through Walmart, where he went quite often. Above all, he loved animals. He always visited, talked to, and named all the animals at the Wiley Park Zoo. He also enjoyed dirt-track races with buddies and cars in general. Daryl especially loved getting together with his family.

Daryl is survived by his brother, Don Thomas of Aberdeen; and sister, Mary Lou Robinson of Benton, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Angie Ehnes, Sherry Thomas Ried, Lori Thomas; and brother, Jim Thomas.
