Obituary

Darleen Jean Haselhorst went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in Aberdeen at the age of 93. Her favorite bible verse, Philippians 4:13… “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” was a truth she lived by throughout her life.

A Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mansfield, SD, with Pastor Bret Bierman officiating.

Burial will be at the church cemetery following the service.

A time for fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at the church.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Schriver's Memorial Chapel, Aberdeen, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before the service.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com. Services will be recorded and posted on Schriver’s Facebook following the service.

Darleen was born on July 26, 1932, to Albert and Erna (Stange) Lorenz. She was baptized on August 28, 1932, and confirmed on July 1, 1945, in the Lutheran Church at James, South Dakota.

She attended grade school at Joan of Arc, a one-room schoolhouse near Groton, and graduated from Groton High School in 1950. Following graduation, Darleen worked at St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company for seven years.

On November 17, 1957, she married William “Bill” Haselhorst at West Hanson Church near Groton. Together they farmed near Mansfield, South Dakota, for 53 years until retiring in 2009.

Darleen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church near Mansfield, SD, and was an active and faithful member. She also belonged to Trinity L.W.M.L., Mansfield American Legion Auxiliary, the Cheerful Chicks Club, and taught Sunday School. Other activities she enjoyed included working at the local polling station on election days and spending several years working at JR’s Auction in Aberdeen.

Family was her greatest joy. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her faith was unwavering, and she relied on Jesus as her daily strength, comfort, and hope.

Darleen is survived by her children: Duane Haselhorst of Aberdeen, Darlys Lanz of Aberdeen, and Kevin (Amy) Haselhorst of Yankton; grandchildren Derek Haselhorst, Leslie Dieck, Brandon Haselhorst, Larissa Dillon, Megan Haselhorst, Gavin Haselhorst and Cale Haselhorst; and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Albert and Erna Lorenz; sister, Dolores Ness; brother, Glenn Lorenz; an infant brother; daughter-in-law, Kay Haselhorst; and son-in-law, Rich Lanz.
