Dana Ray Brick

Dana Ray Brick, 70, of Aberdeen, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013, at the Intensive Care Unit of Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, with his family at his bedside.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Groton United Methodist Church, 906 North 1st St, Groton, SD, with Rev. Matthew Richards presiding. Burial will take place at Groton Union Cemetery. A luncheon and time of fellowship will be held at The Eagle's Club in Aberdeen.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at the mortuary, with a public prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Aberdeen Gun Club.

Dana Ray Brick was born on August 5, 1943, in Aberdeen, SD to Walter "Mike" R. and Alvina (Knoll) Brick. He was raised and attended school in the Bath, SD area, graduating from Bath High School with the Class of 1961.

Dana married Shirley McCullough on April 10, 1965. To this union, one son, Deland Brick was born. They made their home in Aberdeen.

On August 27, 1983, Dana was united in marriage to Roxanne Voeller, and two more children, Russel and Jaymie, were added to Dana's family.

Dana was a well-known businessman in the community, owning and operating Brick Roto-Rooter for 42 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and held memberships in Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Sportsman Club Brown County (now known as The Aberdeen Gun Club) and the NRA. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles - Aerie #632, Moose Lodge 590 and the Elks Lodge #1046, all in Aberdeen.

In addition to his passion for hunting, Dana also enjoyed trap shooting, bowling and football. In his childhood, he was also very involved in 4-H.

Grateful to have shared Dana's life are his children: Deland (Mary) Brick of Ramsey, MN, Russel (Kimberly) Brick of Aberdeen, SD and Jaymie (Jesse) Overacker of Groton, SD; six grandchildren: Jeryco Brick, Marissa Brick, Raylee Brick, Tucker Brick, KayLynn Overacker and Emily Overacker; one great-grandson, Geoffrey Klenk; one sister, Alina (James) Becker of Turton, SD; one nephew, Justin Burgod; one niece, Jenesena (David) Ursone; and special friend, Autumn Autry of Green Bay, WI.

Dana's parents and one infant brother, Richard, preceded him in death.
