We celebrate the life of Dan “Fritter” Fritz of Bath, South Dakota, who passed away surrounded by family and friends at the age of 71 at Avera Hospital on July 8, 2026. Dan was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, admired friend, and hunting, golfing, and sports enthusiast.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Schriver's Memorial Chapel, with Loren Siefken officiating.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
A time for fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at Schriver's Fellowship Hall.
Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Bath Memorial Cemetery in Bath, SD.
Friends and family are encouraged to wear golf attire or a shirt representing their favorite sports team to services.

Dan was born on March 6, 1955, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Roy “Bud” and Donna (Cornell) Fritz. He attended school in Bath, SD, and graduated from Central High School in 1973. He married Marcy Green, and together they had a son, Joshua Lee Fritz. Dan married Sue Heidenreich on September 9, 1989. Dan adopted son Daniel Cory after marriage. Together, they had a daughter, Lindsey Ann.
Dan worked at the Burlington Northern Railroad after high school. He worked at Lampert’s Lumber Yard for most of his life and was an independent contractor with Kitchen Tune Up. Dan played many sports in high school and played baseball with Smitty’s Baseball. He was involved in a variety of league sports, including softball, bowling, and pool. His love of hunting, fishing, sporting events, and golfing was shared with his many friends. He was a die-hard Green Bay Packer and Boston Red Sox fan. Dan’s favorite titles were those of father and grandfather. Dan was extremely proud of his children and cherished spending time with his four grandchildren.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Sue Fritz, children Daniel Fritz and Lindsey Wacholz (Jeffrey), grandchildren Eli, Amelia, Emma and Abigail Wacholz, Sister Pat (Dave) Bruckner, sisters-in-law Julie (Rick) Frentz, Mary Heidenreich, brothers-in-law Richard Heidenreich, William (Tina) Heidenreich, Donald (Linda) Heidenreich, James (Connie) Heidenreich, John Heidenreich (Zina Shepherd), Eric Heidenreich and Aunt Donna Schmidt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Donna Fritz; son, Joshua Lee Fritz; brothers: Robert Allen and Bradley Jay; grandparents; and many uncles and aunts.
