Corrine was born in Britton, South Dakota, on December 11, 1930, to Sam and Helen (Norden) Rott. As an infant, she moved to Aberdeen, where she was raised and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1949. She attended the Minnesota School of Business and later moved with three girlfriends to Washington, DC, where she lived and worked until she married Donald Nordling and moved to Norfolk, VA, where he was stationed in the Navy. After Don's discharge, they moved to Aberdeen, where both their families lived. Corrine stayed home and raised five children – three daughters: Debra, Sheree, and Dorene, and two sons: Ronald and Richard, in whom she instilled kindness, love, and compassion. She had the patience of a saint.

Corrine worked many years with her parents at Helen's California Kitchen. She was a charter member of the Aberdeen La Sertoma Club and served as President and District Governor. She was a worker with Sertoma to establish Storybook Land, and on her visits to Storybook Land in her later years, would spend a few more minutes looking at the "Old Woman in the Shoes as she said she helped paint it. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge, the Sons of Norway, several Bridge clubs, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Corrine was a great and devoted mom. She was always loving and supportive - never critical. She was a little stern at times, but that was all her children needed to behave. Her home was home to all at all times. There was always great food and plenty of it, and comforting conversation and love - just what everyone needed.

Grateful and blessed to have been loved by Corrine are her children, Deb Palmer of Coon Rapids, MN; Sheree (Brad Olson) Hogan of Aberdeen, SD; Ron Nordling of Aberdeen, SD; Dorene Buchanan of Mina, SD; Rich (Joanne)Nordling of Edinburg, NY; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Corrine was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents, Helen and Sam Rott; two brothers, Courtney (Janice) Rott and Robert (Gerry) Rott; one sister, Elaine (Ray) Clancy; three sons-in-law, Jim Palmer, Spencer Buchanan and Mick Hogan.

"And they stood and watched her as she went alone and the gates closed after her. And they said, "we cannot see Mom, but she is with us still. A mother like ours is more than a memory.. she is a living presence".

A special thank-you to the staff at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen and Avera Hospice for their compassionate care.
