Coral Leann Stanton

Funeral services for Coral LeAnn Stanton, 63, of Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016, at New Life Fellowship, 619 8th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Mark Zimmerman and Pastor Cecil Stanton officiating.

Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Aberdeen.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at the mortuary and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.

Coral passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at her home in Aberdeen.

Coral LeAnn (Wohlwend) Stanton was born on April 2, 1953, in Watertown, SD, to Loren Carl and Ernastina Christina (Haase) Wohlwend. She grew up on the family farm near Harrold, SD, and graduated with the Class of 1971 from Harrold High School. She then furthered her education at Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND, from 1972 until 1974.

Coral was united in marriage to Harry Stanton on March 20, 1975, at Pierre, SD. The couple made their home in Aberdeen soon after. Coral patiently pulled the weeds from her verdant gardens while looking after children and household. Coral and Harry shared 33 years of marriage before he passed away on July 25, 2008. After being widowed, Coral found new love and companionship with Lonnie Bartell, "Grandpa Lonnie", and he has been happily welcomed into the family.

Coral was active in the church where she led Bible studies and organized a food bank. She was always ready to lend a hand to those in need.

She enjoyed making and displaying collections and watching birds that stopped for seed or bath. Coral had a true love of nature. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and also enjoyed fishing.

Glad to have been in her life are her children: Tyson Stanton, Trudy (Jay) Rossman, Tracy Stanton and her husband Jamie Veen, and Daniel Stanton, all of Aberdeen; Coral's fiancAC., Lonnie Bartell; two granddaughters, Alexa and Emily Rossman; and her siblings: twin brother Loren (Joann) Wohlwend of Pierre, SD, Grace (Aaron) Stadel of Redfield, SD, Rebecca (Tom) Watson of Aberdeen, Rachel Bobby of Pierre, SD, Ramona (Gary) Pfeifer of Hemet, CA, Naomi Shorey of Aberdeen, Mark (Vera) Wohlwend of Joplin, MO, Elam (Sue) Wohlwend of Pipestone, MN, Martin Wohlwend of Sweden, David (Linda) Wohlwend of West Richland, WA, John Wohlwend of Pierre, SD, Virginia Johnson of Knoxville, AR, Gretchen (Bob) Poole of Berwick, ME and Allen (Sharon) Wohlwend of Effingham, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Coral was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harry.
