Colleen E. Nielson, 83, of Aberdeen, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.
Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2016, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Chris Anderson officiating.
A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.
Colleen's wishes were to be cremated with burial taking place at Clover Leaf Cemetery in Willmar, MN, at a later date.

Colleen E. Nielson was born at Rice Memorial Hospital on February 14, 1933 in Willmar, MN, the daughter of Henry & Gladys (Norris) Mohr. She grew up on the family farm near Atwater, MN.
Following her high school graduation, Colleen worked in St. Paul MN. Colleen was united in marriage to Rolland Nielson on March 29, 1952, at the Keesler Air Base in Biloxi, MS. In the early years, the couple lived and worked in Mississippi, New Mexico, Minnesota, and Missouri. Later, they moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota, where they spent most of their time raising their three boys. Colleen was active in school activities, church, scouts, camping, gardening, bowling, playing cards, bridge club, and dancing. Colleen loved spending quality time with family, friends, and relatives at their Pickerel Lake cabin. Colleen attended college at Northern State University and worked in various law offices as a legal secretary and also as a paralegal.
Colleen and her husband retired and moved to Mesa, AZ. Eventually they moved back to Minnesota, and subsequently returned to Aberdeen to be closer to children. Colleen enjoyed her life, her husband Rollie, her children, her grandchildren and all her family.
Surviving Colleen are two children: Mitch (Kristy) Nielson of Rock Springs, WY, and Greg (Shelly) Nielson of Mina, SD; five grand children: Michelle Carrol, Jordan (Eric) Nieters, Eric Nielson, Danielle (Felipe) Alfaia, and Nomi Nielson; four great grandchildren: Timmy Shuler, Jeremy Shuler, Mahaley Shuler, and Ellie Nieters; and six siblings: Larry (Dorothy) Mohr, Janet Peterson, Jerome (Carol) Mohr, Judy (Doug) Angier, Gerri (Dan) Bates, and Eva Vossen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her husband and a son.
Colleen's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at both ManorCare Health Services and Bethesda Home of Aberdeen for their many kindnesses.
