Colin M. O’Brien, 52, of Raytown, MO, passed away July 23, 2022, in Independence, MO.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, August 8, 2022, at St. Mary’s Church, Aberdeen. Colin’s uncle, Father Paul Craig, will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery following Mass. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.  Family and friends may sign the online guestbook and also view the service at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Colin M. O’Brien was born May 31, 1970, to Mike and Kathryn (Craig) O’Brien in Aberdeen, SD.  He was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School.

After high school, Colin attended South Dakota State University. He graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. He then continued his education at Hamilton College in Omaha, NE, and the Nebraska College of Business.

Colin married his best friend and the love of his life, Tonya Robinson on March 27, 2010. They made Raytown, Missouri their home.

Colin struggled with many health problems and challenges in his life.  Even though there were difficulties, he always had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh.  Colin was always kind-hearted.  He enjoyed golf and had a hole-in-one during freshman orientation in Brookings, SD.  Colin loved baseball, and even after moving to Kansas City, he remained a devoted Minnesota Twins fan.

Colin passed away peacefully after a short illness in Independence, MO.

Grateful for having shared Colin’s life are his wife, Tonya; his parents Mike and Kathryn O’Brien; and his sister, Kristen O’Brien.

Colin was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A special thank you to his Aunt Jane who was with him in his final days.
