Clarence Eugene Hite was born October 29, 1954, to Elwin and Mildred (Sauer) Hite in Aberdeen, SD.  He grew up with his parents and two sisters near Aberdeen.  Clarence spent his school days at the School of Hope and the Aberdeen Adjustment Training Center, which is now Aspire, Inc.

In addition to working at Aspire for over 50 years, Clarence also was employed at Kentucky Fried Chicken and then as a greeter at Walmart for many years.  He especially loved his greeter position and had a natural talent for it.

Clarence’s other interest and enjoyment came from music and sports.  He played the drums and spoons with different entertainers within the community, most recently with Bluegrass Players.  His interest in sports lasted year-round. Summer meant traveling to Minneapolis with Aspire to see the Twins and the later part of the year was spent watching Northern State University play basketball.  In his younger years, Clarence loved bowling.  He was very good at the sport and was selected to go to the National Special Olympics Bowling Tournament in Connecticut.  Most recently, Clarence became an avid fan of Aberdeen’s hockey team, the Aberdeen Wings.  He never missed a home game.  Those of you that would visit with Clarence would inevitably have to talk about one sport or another and we thank you for that.

Clarence is survived by two sisters, Sharon Tullis of Aberdeen and Eunice (Richard) Smith of Bismarck, ND; two nieces; three nephews; and the residents of Aberdeen in which he was well known and cared for so much.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and older brother, Ronald; and a nephew.
